CUBC SUMMER LETTER Chester United Baptist Church PO Box 435, Chester NS, B0J 1J0 chesterubc@gmail.com Thanksgiving Letter 2016 Greetings in the great name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. A teacher of the Law once asked Jesus, “who is my neighbour?” And Jesus responded by telling the story of the Good Samaritan. Luke 10:25-37. Sesame Street asked a great question. “Oh, who are the people in your neighbourhood? In your neighbourhood? …The people that you meet each day” (grocer, teacher, neighbour…). Mr. Rogers sang to his TV audience…It’s a beautiful day in this neighbourhood, A beautiful day for a neighbour, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? It’s a neighbourly day in this beautywood, A neighbourly day for a beauty, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? I have always wanted to have a neighbour just like you, I’ve always wanted to live in a neighbourhood with you. So let’s make the most of this beautiful day, Since we’re together, we might as well say, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbour? Won’t you please, won’t you please, Please won’t you be my neighbour? All across Atlantic Canada our Baptist family is encouraging us to be good neighbours to all who live around us. October has been proclaimed “Neighbouring Month.” We are being asked to use our senses to hear, see, touch/serve, smell, and taste in cooperation with the Holy Spirit to reach out in God’s love to our neighbourhoods. Can we, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, be the kind of neighbours that those nearby would want us to be next door. Enclosed is a calendar to give rise to sensing the needs of all around us.
